Abstract

The book of Adabul ‘Alim wal Muta’allim by KH. Hasyim Asy’ari and its Relevance to Character Education”. This study aims to examine the ethical values of students toward their teachers as presented in Adabul ‘Alim wal Muta’allim by KH. Hasyim Asy’ari , as well as to explore its relevance to the concept of character education in the modern era. This research employs a literature review method with a qualitative descriptive approach. The primary data source is the book Adabul ‘Alim wal Muta’allim, which discusses in depth the principals of a student’s manners, including the obligation to respect teachers, maintain sincerity in learning, and uphold knowledge as a from of devotion to Allah Swt. Additionally, this study analyzes how these values can be integrated into a character education system that emphasizes moral, social, and spiritual aspects. The results of the research show that the ethical concepts of students according to KH. Hasyim Asy’ari are highly relevant to character education, particulary in fostering discipline, respect, honesty, and responsibility in the learning process. The values taught in this book may serve as a solution to various educational challenges in the era of globalization, such as the decline in respect toward teachers, weakened learning discipline, and moral crisis among students. In conclusion, Adabul alim wal muta’allim can be used as a reference in designing character-based educational institutions. By understanding and implementing the values of adab (proper conduct) in the field of education, it is hoped that a generation can be formed that is not only intellectually vapable but also possesses strong character, noble morals, and the ability to make a positive contribution to society.
