Abstract


This study examines the effectiveness of audiovisual media in enhancing students’ understanding and engagement in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMP An-Nur Bululawang. This qualitative research employed a case study design, collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation, with the researcher acting as the main instrument. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, consisting of data collection, reduction, display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of sources and techniques. Findings indicate that the integration of audiovisual media in PAI classes proved effective in making learning more engaging and comprehensible. Teachers carefully prepared materials, selected relevant content, and utilized various media such as PowerPoint presentations, videos, and animations. The use of audiovisual media clarified abstract concepts, captured students’ attention, and enhanced their learning motivation, while also supporting more meaningful formative assessment. Students demonstrated improved ability to explain material, provide concrete examples, and showed greater enthusiasm during practice activities. Despite challenges such as limited internet access or power outages, the implementation created a more dynamic and effective learning experience. Overall, audiovisual media significantly contributed to deepening understanding, fostering motivation, and promoting active participation in Islamic Religious Education.
