Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the cooperative learning method Jigsaw on students’ learning outcomes in Fiqih at grade XI of MA Al-Ma’arif Singosari. The background of this research arises from the learning process of Fiqih which is still dominated by the lecture method, causing students to be less motivated and resulting in relatively low learning outcomes. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, namely a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 students of class XI.3 selected through purposive sampling. The research instrument was a multiple-choice test comprising 20 items that had been tested for validity and reliability (α = 0.864). Data were collected through pretest and posttest, then analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and a paired sample t-test. The results showed an increase in the students’ mean score from 71.5 (pretest) to 75.0 (posttest). The distribution of scores also shifted positively, with more students reaching the “good” and “very good” categories. The paired sample t-test obtained a significance value of 0.013 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores. These findings confirm that the Jigsaw method has a positive effect on Fiqih learning outcomes. Therefore, Jigsaw can be considered an alternative learning strategy to improve students’ understanding, participation, and responsibility.
