PENGARUH KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL TERHADAP MOTIVASI BERPRESTASI SISWA PADA MATA PELAJARAN PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM KELAS VIII DI SMP SUNAN KALIJOGO JABUNG
Abstract
This research is motivated by the phenomenon of students whose academic achievement has not reached its maximum potential due to a lack of motivation. In this context, the researcher aims to examine the influence of emotional intelligence on students’ achievement motivation in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects at SMP Sunan Kalijogo Jabung. The study employs a quantitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research population consists of 231 eighth-grade students, with a sample of 69 students selected using random sampling based on the Slovin formula at a 10% significance level. The research instrument is a questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale to measure emotional intelligence and achievement motivation. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistical tests, prerequisite tests, and simple linear regression analysis using IBM SPSS version 26. The findings reveal that emotional intelligence has a significant effect on students’ achievement motivation. A significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and an R Square value of 0.423 indicate that 42.3% of achievement motivation is influenced by emotional intelligence, while the remaining 57.7% is influenced by other factors. Thus, emotional intelligence is proven to play an important role in enhancing students’ achievement motivation in PAI learning.
