study aims to describe the strategies used by Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in building empathy in students at SMA Negeri 1 Paiton. This study focuses on three aspects: planning, implementation process, and evaluation of learning. The background of this study is the lack of empathy in students, such as indifference toward peers and instructions from teachers. The type of research used is desciptive qualitative with a case study approach.  Data collection uses observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the strategies of Islamic Religious Education theachers in building empathy in students are carried out in three stages: 1) Learning planning that involves empathy based learning objectives, relevant, materials and contextual teaching methods. 2) The learning implementation by creating a conducive classroom environment, teachers being role models, and habitual empathy practices. 3) Evaluation through behavioral observations, participation in social activities, and reflection on attitude changes. This strategy proven effective in gradually forming empathy in students in the school context.
