STRATEGI GURU PAI DALAM MEMBENTUK KARAKTER DISIPLIN SISWA MELALUI KEGIATAN KEAGAMAAN DI SMP NU AL-HIKMAH TUMPANG
Abstract
Character education plays a crucial role in shaping a high-quality future generation. In the current digital era, the crisis of character education, particularly discipline, presents a complex challenge in Indonesia. SMP NU Al-Hikmah Tumpang strives to address this issue by strengthening students' disciplinary character through religious activities. This research aims to describe students' disciplinary character, analyze the strategies of PAI (Islamic Religious Education) teachers in forming disciplinary character through religious activities, and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors of these strategies at SMP NU Al-Hikmah Tumpang. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews with PAI teachers, the school principal, and students, as well as documentation of religious activities. Data analysis techniques included data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Data validity was ensured through source, technique, and time triangulation. The research findings indicate that the disciplinary character of students at SMP NU Al-Hikmah Tumpang is considered good, marked by punctuality and adherence to school rules and religious activities. The strategies of PAI teachers in forming students' disciplinary character include teacher role modeling, habituation through structured religious activity schedules, and active student involvement in religious activities. Supporting factors for these strategies are teacher role modeling, routine religious activity programs, and active student participation. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include inconsistent teacher role modeling, limited time for religious activities, and the diversity of students' backgrounds and basic abilities.
