PENGARUH KOMPETENSI PEDAGOGIK GURU PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM TERHADAP MINAT BELAJAR PESERTA DIDIK KELAS XI DI SEKOLAH MENENGAH ATAS BRAWIJAYA SMART SCHOOL MALANG

Abstract


This study aims to analyze the influence of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers’ pedagogical competence on the learning interest of 11th-grade students at Brawijaya Smart School (BSS) Malang. Pedagogical competence refers to the teacher’s ability to understand students’ characteristics, design, implement, and evaluate the learning process effectively. Learning interest is considered a crucial factor influencing academic achievement, encompassing students’ enjoyment, curiosity, attention, and active participation. This research employed a quantitative approach with a survey method. The population consisted of 130 students, with a sample of 95 students selected using proportional random sampling based on Isaac and Michael’s table at a 5% error level. The research instrument was a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire. Data were analyzed through validity, reliability, normality, linearity, and simple linear regression tests. The findings revealed that both teachers’ pedagogical competence and students’ learning interest were categorized as high. Furthermore, there was a significant influence of PAI teachers’ pedagogical competence on students’ learning interest, contributing 12% to the variation in learning interest. These results highlight the importance of enhancing teachers’ pedagogical competence through continuous professional development, mastery of educational technology, and effective classroom management strategies to foster students’ learning interest.
