Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of social media use on the learning outcomes of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Bula. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires measuring the intensity of social media use and documentation of students’ academic results. The findings show that the level of social media use among students is categorized as moderate, with social integration as the highest indicator and entertainment as the lowest. The students’ PAI learning outcomes are also in the moderate category. Based on a simple linear regression analysis, the coefficient (B = 0.145) indicates a positive relationship between social media use and learning outcomes; however, the significance value (p = 0.079 > 0.05) shows that this influence is not statistically significant at the 5% level. Therefore, it can be concluded that social media use contributes only minimally (R² = 0.026) to variations in students’ PAI learning outcomes, with most influences coming from other factors. The results suggest that while social media has potential as a supportive learning tool, careful guidance and time management are needed to ensure its effective use in enhancing students’ academic performance
