PENGARUH INTERAKSI SOSIAL TERHADAP SIKAP TOLERANSI BERAGAMA SISWA DI SMA NEGERI 2 SEBULU
Abstract
This study aims to determine: (1) the level of social interaction among students at SMA Negeri 2 Sebulu, (2) the level of students’ religious tolerance attitudes, and (3) whether there is a significant influence of social interaction on students’ religious tolerance attitudes. The background of this research highlights the importance of fostering mutual respect in multicultural educational environments, where social interaction is believed to play a crucial role in shaping tolerance across religious differences.
A quantitative approach with a survey method was used. The sample consisted of 76 students randomly selected from a population of 768. The research instrument was a Likert-scale questionnaire measuring two variables: social interaction as the independent variable (X) and religious tolerance attitude as the dependent variable (Y). Data were analyzed using simple linear regression with the help of SPSS 25.
The results showed that the level of students’ social interaction was high, marked by their ability to collaborate, accommodate, and assimilate with peers of different religious backgrounds. Students’ attitudes toward religious tolerance were also classified as good. A significant influence was found between social interaction and religious tolerance, with a significance value of 0.000 and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.334. This indicates that social interaction contributes 33.4% to the development of students' religious tolerance.
