IMPLEMENTASI USRAH DALAM PEMBENTUKAN KARAKTER RELIGIUS PESERTA DIDIK SEKOLAH MENENGAH ISLAM AD DINIAH SUNGAI BAKAP MALAYSIA

Abstract


Islamic education plays a strategic role in shaping students' religious character. One of the learning methods applied in Islamic education is usrah, a small-group discussion forum that explores religious aspects and contemporary issues. This study aims to analyze the implementation of usrah in shaping students' religious character at Sekolah Menengah Islam Ad Diniah Sungai Bakap, Malaysia. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the school principal, usrah mentors, and students, as well as participatory observations and document analysis. The findings reveal that the implementation of usrah in this school consists of five main stages: Quran recitation, muqaddimah (introduction), material delivery by the naqib, muzakarah (discussion), and closing. This activity contributes to the development of students' religious character by strengthening values such as sincerity, responsibility, discipline, adherence to rules, and leadership. Students also demonstrate improvements in self-confidence and communication skills. Thus, usrah is proven to be an effective method in shaping students' religious character and can serve as a model for broader Islamic education systems.
