STRATEGI GURU PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM DALAM MENANAMKAN NILA-NILAI MODERASI BERAGAMA DI SEKOLAH MENENGAH ATAS NEGERI 8 MALANG

Abstract

SMA Negeri 8 Malang, a formal high school, accommodates students from diverse religious backgrounds. Despite not being Islamic-based, the school highly upholds Islamic values. This research explores PAI (Islamic Education) teachers strategies in instilling religious moderation. In SMA Negeri 8 Malang, aside from promoting religious moderation by fostering high tolerance, attention is also given to cultivating principles of justice and balance. This qualitative study employs a case study approach, collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that through strategic planning and implementation by Islamic education teachers, the school successfully instills values of tolerance, justice, and balance among its students, regardless of their diverse religious backgrounds. Through various strategies such as advice-giving, exemplary behavior, habituation, discipline, and special attention, Islamic Education teachers are able to shape the mindset and attitudes of students, creating an inclusive learning environment, and producing positive outcomes in the form of tolerance, awareness of justice, and instilling balance in students' lives. In conclusion, with a holistic and planned approach to instilling religious moderation in SMA Negeri 8 Malang through PAI teaching strategies, it can serve as an example for other educational institutions in promoting religious moderation.
