Abstract


This study aims to evaluate the effect of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and
Composition (CIRC) instructional model on students' conceptual understanding in
the subject of Aswaja (Islamic religious Education) at MTs EII Jasmeen Singosari,
MaIang. The research utilized a quasi-experimentaI design with a quantitative
approach. A totaI of 1oo seventh-grade students participated, with 5o students
assigned to the experimentaI group receiving instruction using the CIRC modeI, and
5o students assigned to the controI group receiving instruction using a discussion
method. The resuIts showed that the CIRC instructionaI modeI had a significant
effect on students' conceptuaI understanding. This study supports previous
research indicating that the impIementation of the CIRC modeI can enhance
students' conceptuaI understanding. Therefore, the study concIudes that the
appIication of the CIRC instructionaI modeI significantIy improves students'
conceptuaI understanding in Aswaja at MTs EI Jasmeen Singosari. The impIications
of this study highIight the importance of teachers seIecting appropriate instructionaI
methods, such as the CIRC modeI, to faciIitate better conceptuaI understanding
among students
