Abstract

Abstract

The quality and quantity of corn seed production and the varying production risks determine the high and low yield of corn plants. However, there is still often a high level of risk in the corn seed production process, especially in hybrid corn seeds. This research analyzes the production risk level of hybrid maize seeds at PT Corresco Seeds Indonesia using the Coefficient of Variation (CV) method, based on harvest and processing data from 2018 to 2024. The research aims to quantify production variability through two approaches: cross-season production and season-by-season production. Data were analyzed by calculating the mean, standard deviation, and CV for each production unit. Results indicate that the cross-season approach yields CVs of 16 % for harvest production and 17 % for processing, indicating moderate risk. In contrast, the season-by-season approach shows low risk for harvest in Season 1 (CV 3.7 %) and Season 2 (CV 6.4 %), and for processing in Season 1 (CV 8.6 %), with only Season 2 processing exhibiting moderate risk (CV 15 %). These findings suggest greater production stability when analyzed per season, though targeted risk management strategies remain necessary, particularly for the second-season processing stage.
