Abstract

Poncokusumo Village is one of the areas that has superior citrus crop commodities. However, if this potential is not balanced with the interest and self-awareness of young farmers, the orange farming profession in Poncokusumo Village will decline. Therefore, it is important to carry out research with the aim of describing the socio-economic conditions of young farmers who carry out orange farming in Poncokusumo Village and knowing the factors that influence young farmers' interest in carrying out orange farming in Poncokusumo Village. The approach used in this research is a quantitative descriptive approach. The research was conducted by interviewing young farmers with age criteria of 19 - 39 years. The sampling technique used the entire population of 55 respondents. The number of respondents who stated they were interested in farming was 42 people. The results of the logistic regression analysis show that the factors that influence young farmers' interest in orange farming in Poncokusumo Village are the educational background variable (X2), the parent's employment variable (X3), the farming income variable (X4), and the farming motivation variable (X5). Meanwhile, factors that do not influence are the land area variable (X1), the tradition variable (X6), and the age variable (X7).
