PROBLEMATIKA SEKOLAH DALAM PENGUATAN KARAKTER SISWA DI SEKOLAH DASAR

Abstract


This study aims to describe the practice of the character education reinforcement, the problems faced by the school, and the effort made by the school to overcome these problems at SD Rajawali, an elementary school located in a plantation area in South Kalimantan. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were obtained trough observation, interviews, and documentation involving the school principal, teachers, parents, and students. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, including data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was tested through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results show that character education reinforcement at SD Rajawali is carried out through the habituation of religious activities, teacher role modeling, enforcement of school rules, and the integration of character values into the learning process. The problems faced by the school include suboptimal character habituation within the family environment, low discipline and responsibility among some students, and the influence of gadget use on students' behavior and social interaction. The efforts made by the school to overcome these problems include gradual guidance for students who violate school rules, strengthening communication and collaboration with parents, and utilizing support from the surrounding school environment and the plantation company. Character education reinforcement at SD Rajawali therefore requires synergy among the school, family, and surrounding environment so that students' character development can take place in a sustainable manner.
