Abstract

Students' favorite places in school become an important part of forming their individual identity. In addition, students' favorite places at school also affect their place attachment to school. The purpose of this study is to determine the role and relationship of place attcachment to the development of individual identity. This research uses a qualitative approach and a case study at MI Al-Ma'arif 11 Gunungrejo Singosari. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model and data validation through observational persistence and triangulation. The findings reveal that students' preferred activities, including sports, coloring, reading, storytelling, and role-playing, significantly contribute to shaping their identity as creative, active, and knowledgeable individuals. Place attachment to a comfortable school environment, bolstered by programs like Student Stewardship and extracurricular activities, reinforces students' unique identity. Furthermore, interactions with the local community play a vital role in enhancing place attachment and molding students into active, community-conscious individuals. In summary, students' favorite activities, place attachment, and community interactions are intertwined, influencing the individual identity of third-grade students at MI Al-Ma'arif 11 Gunungrejo Singosari. This study underscores the significance of students' school experiences in identity development during the ages of 9-10.
