Abstract
This research is motivated by the low listening skills (maharah istima') of students in Arabic learning, specifically in understanding information and accurately recalling vocabulary from oral texts. The purposes of this study are: 1) To describe the implementation of the auditory memory-based strategy in teaching Arabic listening skills to seventh-grade students at MTs Hidayatul Mubtadiin; 2) To determine the influence of the auditory memory-based strategy on students' listening comprehension (fahm al-masmu'). This quantitative research applied a Pre-Experimental design (One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design). The instrument trial was conducted in grade VII C filtering 20 multiple-choice questions into 15 valid items, while the research subjects were grade VII B students. Data gathered via observation, documentation, and tests were analyzed using a paired sample t-test via SPSS. The results showed that: 1) The implementation of the auditory memory-based strategy was carried out systematically through planning, executing, and evaluating stages. Based on the observation sheet, student activities showed an excellent response, a conducive classroom atmosphere, and a significant increase in focus during listening sessions; 2) There was a marked increase in the average score of listening skills among grade VII B students, from 61.19 on the pretest to 84.52 on the posttest; 3) The results of the paired sample t-test showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05, thereby rejecting H₀ and accepting Hₐ. In conclusion, the auditory memory-based strategy has a positive and significant influence on the Arabic listening skills of grade VII B students at MTs Hidayatul Mubtadiin.
