Mastery of yellow book reading skills is an essential competency in Islamic education, particularly in pesantren-based madrasahs, as it enables students to understand classical Islamic texts independently. This skill requires not only vocabulary mastery but also a strong understanding of Arabic grammar, especially nahwu and sharaf. To develop these competencies, Madrasah Tsanawiyah Putri Raudlatul Ulum Gondanglegi Malang implements a learning program using Kitab Ar-Raudhi, a textbook designed to teach grammar systematically while improving students’ reading skills. This study aimed to describe the learning process of reading yellow books using Kitab Ar-Raudhi and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the head of the madrasah, BMK (Bimbingan Membaca Kitab) teachers, the compiler of Kitab Ar-Raudhi, and eighth-grade students. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the learning process consisted of planning, implementation, and evaluation. During implementation, teachers conducted learning through opening activities, reading sasakan, reading kosongan, translation, i'rab analysis, guided practice, and evaluation instead of using the traditional bandongan method. This approach gradually improved students’ ability to read, understand, translate, and analyze yellow book texts. Supporting factors included the systematic organization of learning materials, the nadzam format of Kitab Ar-Raudhi, teacher guidance, students’ motivation, and the supportive pesantren environment. The main inhibiting factors were the sequence of some learning materials and the book’s simple physical appearance. Overall, Kitab Ar-Raudhi effectively supports the gradual development of students’ yellow book reading competence.
