PENGARUH VIDEO ANIMASI TERHADAP PEMAHAMAN KOSAKATA BAHASA ARAB SISWA MTS HIDAYATUL MUBTADI’IN MALANG

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using animated videos on the Arabic vocabulary comprehension of eighth-grade students at MTs Hidayatul Mubtadi’in Tasikmadu Malang. The study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, specifically the Non-Equivalent Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design model. The research sample consisted of 48 students, divided into 24 students in the experimental group and 24 students in the control group. The experimental group was given learning treatment using animated videos designed based on the principles of the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning (CTML), while the control group used conventional methods. The research instrument consisted of a test comprising 10 matching questions, 10 multiple-choice questions, and 10 fill-in-the-blank questions. The research results showed that the experimental group experienced a 68.1% improvement in understanding, while the control group only improved by 20.7%. The hypothesis test using the Independent Sample t-test produced t-calculated = 7.682 > t-table = 2.006 and significance 0.000 (p<0.05), so H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. These findings indicate that animated videos have a significant effect on improving students' Arabic vocabulary comprehension. This study recommends the integration of animated videos as a regular medium in Arabic language instruction at madrasahs, and contributes empirically to the development of educational technology and the validation of multimedia learning theories in the context of languages with complex orthographies.
