Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of speaking skills (mahārah kalām) in Arabic language learning and the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a modern learning medium. The study aims to describe the implementation of an AI-based role play strategy in teaching mahārah kalām at MAN 2 Malang City and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research subjects consisted of the Arabic language teacher and the students of class XI N. The results showed that the implementation of the AI-based role play strategy was carried out through the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation. The teacher utilized AI applications for dialogue preparation, pronunciation practice, and the development of students’ language interaction. This strategy improved students’ participation, self-confidence, and Arabic speaking skills. The supporting factors included the availability of facilities and infrastructure, students’ activeness, contextual dialogues, and a collaborative learning environment. The inhibiting factors included limited time, students’ difficulties in developing dialogues, and unstable internet connections.
