METODE DRILL BERBASIS POWERPOINT UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PEMAHAMAN KAIDAH NAHWU PADA SISWA MAN 2 KOTA MALANG

The teaching of Arabic grammar is a fundamental aspect of learning the Arabic language, as it helps students understand sentence structure and use the language correctly. However, many students face difficulties in understanding grammatical rules due to teaching methods that are sometimes less engaging and unclear. Therefore, this study aims to implement a drill method based on PowerPoint, which plays an important role in presenting material in an organized and engaging way, while providing repeated exercises to strengthen students’ understanding. This research aims to identify how the method is implemented and to determine the extent of improvement in students’ understanding of Arabic grammar after its application. This study employed a classroom action research method using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which consists of two cycles planning, action, observation, and reflection. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, consisting of 36 eleventh-grade students at the Second State Islamic Senior High School in Malang. Data collection techniques included tests, observation, and documentation. Data were analyzed using qualitative analysis and descriptive quantitative analysis through mean and median scores. The results showed that in the first cycle, the implementation of the drill method with PowerPoint helped clarify grammatical concepts; however, some challenges were found, such as low student participation and high dependence on the teacher. Improvements were made in the second cycle by organizing the exercises more systematically and increasing interaction, which enhanced students’ participation and independent learning ability. The findings indicated a significant improvement in students’ understanding, as the mean score increased from 64.24 in the pre-cycle to 75.75 in the first cycle (17.9%), and further to 86.96 in the second cycle (14.8%). The mastery level also improved significantly, indicating the effectiveness of the method.
