IMPLEMENTASI PEMBELAJARAN KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN METODE SOROGAN PADA SANTRI PONDOK PESANTREN MIFTAHUL HUDA MALANG

Abstract

This research aims to describe the implementation of the sorogan method in reading skills (maharah qira’ah) learning for students at Pondok Pesantren Miftahul Huda Malang, as well as to identify the difficulties faced by students in the process. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with subjects including third-grade Wustho students, the religious teachers, and the pesantren management. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the implementation of the sorogan method consists of three main stages: preparation (determining the text, student readiness, and planning the schedule), implementation (students read the text in front of the teacher who then provides corrections and explanations), and evaluation (direct assessment through error correction and monitoring the students' development). The difficulties of the students are divided into four aspects, namely difficulties in study preparation, psychological difficulties when facing the teacher directly, linguistic difficulties in translating texts into the local language according to context, and grammatical difficulties in determining the position of words in Arabic sentences. This finding emphasizes that the sorogan method is still effective in training the skills of reading yellow books, but it requires support from a variety of learning strategies to be more adaptive to the students' needs.
