Abstract

 

This study aims to describe the use of index card match media to improve reading comprehension results for seventh-grade secondary school students of Hidayatul Mubtadi'in Malang, as well as to outline the positive and negative aspects of their implementation. The background of this study is the weak reading comprehension among students resulting from traditional teaching strategies or methods and a lack of engaging educational media. This study employs a qualitative descriptive methodology with data collection techniques such as interviews, observations, and documentation.

The results of this study explain that the use of the index card match media can improve students' reading comprehension. The positive aspects of this media increase student interest, participation, and interaction, as well as facilitate reading comprehension. The atmosphere in the classroom becomes more lively, and learning becomes interactive and enjoyable. However, the negative aspects of this media include time constraints and student heterogeneity. In conclusion, the index card match media is capable of improving students' reading comprehension, but it is necessary to restructure strategies and manage time better for optimal results. The recommendation from this study is for Arabic language teachers to plan in detail before implementation, adjust the time according to needs, and combine index card match media with other relevant methods to strengthen reading comprehension.
