Abstract
This study is titled The Book of Madārij ad-Durūs al-‘Arabiyyah and Its Teaching Method at Smpi Islam Almaarif 1 Singosari and aims to describe the use of Madārij ad-Durūs al-‘Arabiyyah in the Arabic language teaching process for eighth-grade students at Smpi Almaarif 1 Singosari. The study also examines the teaching methods applied and the challenges encountered in their implementation. This book is the work of an East Javanese scholar, KH. Bashari Alwi Murtadla, and is systematically compiled for beginners in Arabic language learning. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, with the research subjects being Arabic teachers and eighth-grade students. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that Madārij ad-Durūs al-‘Arabiyyah is used across three levels: the first part for grade VII, the second for grade VIII, and the third for grade IX. The teaching method tends to be classical, namely qawā‘id wa tarjamah (grammar and translation), using lecture and reading repetition techniques. Student responses varied, influenced by whether they came from boarding or non-boarding backgrounds. Nevertheless, the book is considered effective in building foundational Arabic language skills for beginners.
