RESPONSE OF BIOCOMPLEX FERTILIZER APPLICATION AND DURATION OF SIPLO INDUCTION ON N, P, K NUTRIENT UPTAKE AND YIELD OF LONG BEAN (Vigna sinensis L.)

Abstract


The production of long bean in Indonesia has declined, indicating challenges in improving crop productivity. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of the combined application of biocomplex fertilizer and SIPLO induction duration on the uptake of N, P, and K nutrients and the yield of long bean plants. The experiment was arranged in a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors: biocomplex fertilizer dosage, consisting of B0 = 0 ton/ha, B1 = 5 ton/ha (25 g/p), B2 = 10 ton/ha (50 g/p), and B3 = 15 ton/ha (75 g/p), and SIPLO induction duration (S), consisting of S0 = 0 minutes/week, S1 = 45 minutes/week, S2 = 60 minutes/week, and S3 = 75 minutes/week, with three replications per treatment. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at the 5% significance level and regression analysis. The results showed a significant interaction between biocomplex fertilizer dosage and SIPLO induction duration. Agronomically, the application of 15 ton/ha biocomplex fertilizer with an optimum SIPLO induction of 60 minutes/week produced the highest yield of 13.87 ton/ha. However, economically, the application of 5 ton/ha biocomplex fertilizer with an optimum SIPLO induction of 51 minutes/week and a yield of 10.50 ton/ha was more efficient. For nitrogen uptake, the 15 ton/ha treatment produced results comparable to the no-fertilizer treatment, at 0.68% and 0.35%, respectively. Optimal phosphorus uptake was obtained from the no-fertilizer treatment with a SIPLO induction of 75 minutes/week (0.67%) and from the 15 ton/ha biocomplex fertilizer treatment with a SIPLO induction of 60 minutes/week (0.73%). Optimal potassium uptake was achieved at a dosage of 15 ton/ha with a SIPLO induction of 60 minutes/week (1.27%). The application of 15 ton/ha biocomplex fertilizer increased vitamin C content to 45.41 mg/100 g and total soluble solids to 5.22 °Brix. SIPLO induction duration significantly affected nutrient uptake, with optimal uptake of N at 51–60 minutes/week, P at 60–75 minutes/week, and K at 60 minutes/week.
