RESPONSE OF CURLY LETTUCE (Lactuca sativa L.) ON THE NUMBER OF FUNGAL COLONIES VARIOUS ANIMAL MANURE SOLUTIONS AND CONCENTRATIONS

Abstract


This experiment investigated how different types of animal manure solutions and their respective application levels influence the development and yield of curly lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.). The experiment was carried out in April-June 2025 at the Green House of the Islamic University of Malang using a factorial RAK design, namely the type of animal manure solution (goats, cows, chickens, rabbits) and application concentrations (0, 3, 30, 300 ml-L). The collected data were subjected to 5% ANOVA, followed by the BNJ test and regression analysis to observe concentration response patterns. The parameters observed included total fresh weight, economic fresh weight, harvest index, and number of mushroom colonies. Microbiological results indicated that fungal colony counts differed across treatments: goats with 3,133.33 CFU-ml, cows with 3,566.67 CFU-ml, rabbits with 3,500 CFU-ml, and chickens with the highest at 25,000 CFU-ml. Despite the high colony numbers, this did not directly correspond to increased crop yields. Statistical analysis demonstrated that treatment combinations notably influenced all measured parameters, with M4K3 (3 ml-L rabbit manure solution) producing the best performance, with a total fresh weight of 216.07 g and an economical fresh weight of 195.90 g. Regression analysis showed that the concentration response was most clearly seen in M2, while other types of solutions showed more varied patterns. Overall, the effectiveness of liquid organic fertilizer is more influenced by the combination of solution type and concentration.
