Abstract

Sandy marginal land is land dominated by sand texture, making it less fertile for agriculture. One effort to improve it is by adding organic materials such as manure, compost, or green manure that can improve the soil's ability to retain water and increase the activity of soil microorganisms. This study aims to determine the use of soybean and mustard rotation residue planting media with the application of biofertilizer-VP3 on the growth of chili seedlings and to determine the effect of using soybean and mustard rotation residue planting media with the application of biofertilizer-VP3 on total bacteria and N-Free fixing bacteria. This study was conducted for 6 months. Starting from January 2025 to June 2022. The study was conducted by the Microbiology Laboratory, Integrated Laboratory and Halal Center, Islamic University of Malang and the Soil Chemistry Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Brawijaya University. The method used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The Total Plate Count Analysis Test consisted of 6 treatments with 3 replications. The Chili Seedling Test consisted of 6 treatments with 4 replications. The results of the study showed that the presence of soybean and mustard rotation residues growing media with the application of biofertilizer-VP3 affected plant height, number of leaves, root length, and fresh weight. The application of biofertilizer-VP3 in soybean and mustard rotation residues growing media plays an important role in stimulating the root system through phytohormones and can encourage root elongation, root surface area, and nutrient uptake.
