Abstract

The continuous use of inorganic fertilizers can cause new problems such as decreased soil fertility. On agricultural land, the problem of  nutrients leaching in the soil often occurs which results in nutrients not being absorbed optimally by plants. This study aims to explain the effect of land management and vermicompost fertilization on the growth and yield of upland rice variety Inpago 8. This experiment used a factorial randomized block design. Factor 1 is land management which consists of two levels, namely: P1 = a common land management, P2 = Land Management with an Impermeable Layer. Factor 2 was vermicompost fertilization management which consisted of three levels, namely: recommended dose of inorganic fertilizer (F1), half the recommended dose of inorganic fertilizer and  25 tons/ha Vermicompost (F2), and Vermicompost 50 tons/ha + 10 tons/ha Biochar (F3). The variables observed were the growth and yield variables of Inpago 8 rice. The data obtained were analyzed for variance (ANOVA) at the 5% level. If there is a significant effect, proceed with the 5% LSD test. The results showed that in the P1F1 treatment (common land management with recommended dose of inorganic fertilizer) gave the best response of growth and yield of Inpago 8 upland rice. Meanwhile, in a separate test, the common land management treatment gave higher growth and yield of upland rice of the Inpago 8 variety compared to land management using an impermeable layer. The F1 fertilization management treatment (recommended dose inorganic fertilizer) gave the best results except for the variable number of grains per panicle and the weight of 1000 seeds

Keywords : Land Management, vermicompost, growth, yield of upland rice.
