Abstract

ABSTRACT

Ground kale (ipomoea sp) is a type of leaf vegetable plant that has a relatively short lifespan and can grow in tropical and subtropical areas. Nitrogen is the main nutrient for plant growth, which is generally very necessary for the formation or growth of vegetative parts of plants such as leaves, stems and roots, but if too much can inhibit flowering and fertilization in plants. Manure is a fertilizer derived from the manure of cows, horses, goats, chickens and sheep, while Urea Fertilizer is an artificial organic chemical compound fertilizer made of CO(NH2)2 in the form of small granules which dissolves completely in water and does not acidify the soil so it can be absorbed. directly by plants, this study aims to determine the effect of using urea fertilizer with the addition of cow manure on the growth and yield of ground kale plants. This research was carried out at the greenhouse, Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Malang, carried out for one month from June to July. The experimental design used was a simple randomized block design (RBD) with 3 repetitions with a combination of treatments (U0 = bovine media without urea) as control, (U1 = urea dose 75 kg/ha), (U2 = urea dose 150 kg/ha) , (U3=Urea dose of 225 kg/ha), and (U4=Urea dose of 300 kg/ha). Observational data were analyzed using analysis of variance or the F test at a level of 5%, with the BNT follow-up test as a control comparison at a level of 5%. The results showed that the application of urea fertilizer with the addition of cow manure was able to have an effect on the growth of plant height, namely at the age of 28 HST with a dose of 150 kg/ha, and the number of leaves, namely at the age of 21 and 28 HST with the highest yield at a dose of 75 kg /ha, besides that the dose of urea also affected the increase in the yield of economic fresh weight, total fresh weight, root fresh weight, root dry weight and harvest index with the highest yield being at a dose of 150 kg/ha.
