Abstract

Microgreens are a group of vegetables that are harvested 7-14 days after planting, microgreens contain higher vitamins, nutrients and phytonutrients than mature plants. This study aims to determine the effect of growing media and fertilizer application on the growth of sunflower microgreens. This study used a factorial randomized block design (RBD) with 2 factors. The first factor was the planting medium which consisted of 3 levels (cocopeat, leaf mass fertilizer + husk charcoal, and nonwoven fabric) and the second factor was the application of fertilizer which consisted of 4 levels (without fertilization, ecoenzme, AB mix, and liquid organic fertilizer). The results showed that there was no real interaction between the treatment of the planting media and fertilization, but separately there was a significant effect on the treatment of the growing media. The planting medium of leaf mass fertilizer + rice husk charcoal gave the highest average for plant height at 4 and 8 hst (4,90 cm and 13,10 cm) but was not significantly different in the cocopeat treatment. The cocopeat media treatment gave the highest average stem diameter of 8 hst (2,21 mm) but was not significantly different from the leaf mass fertilizer + husk charcoal treatment. The media treatment of leaf mass fertilizer and husk charcoal gave the highest average LPR (0,13 g g-1day-1). The cocopeat media treatment gave the highest total root length (49,36 mm), but was not significantly different in the nonwoven fabric media treatment.
